Just over 50 years ago, a Ferrari 312B raced towards the finish line of the 1971 South African Grand Prix. At the helm was the young Mario Andretti, his first drive for the red legends from Modena, and what a drive it was as he held the trophy above his head securing his first ever grand prix win.
To celebrate a limited edition of 6 bottles of the finest Italian Montepulciano d’Abruzzo have been hand gilded in gold leaf and wrapped in original artwork commemorating this occasion.
The hand cut and hand painted labels are numbered and signed and applied to each bottle after the gilding is completed by artist Timothy Mitchell.
From Italy’s top 10 vineyard, the 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, is aged for 12 months in big barrels, it has a rich and complex nose where the classic black fruity notes are accompanied by more vegetal notes from tobacco to leather, to chocolate. In the mouth it is full, rich, and smooth with plenty of flavours. Complex and pulling you back, it hangs on the palate with a long, beautiful finish. Drink now or age for 10 years, decanting recommended.
This unique and luxurious wine is everything you could ever want from a classic Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.
